Although occurring simultaneously and set to end on May 11, 2023, the COVID-19 National Emergency and the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency (PHE) vary in the authorities, waivers, and/or flexibilities under each declaration. As such, several government agencies continue to provide guidance and resources to help health care providers with the transition and unwinding from the COVID-19 emergency declarations.
It is important to note that:
● Guidance continues to evolve, making it necessary for providers to continue to monitor for applicable updates.
● While many waivers and flexibilities expire on May 11, 2023, some provisions expired on previous dates and some are set to end at a later time.
● The overlay of federal, state, local, and accrediting agency requirements, and provider-specific policies, procedures, and processes require providers to be attentive to applicable requirements, which are typically the most stringent requirements.
